Priorities Outlined by the Small Business Taskforce

Published: 11 July 2017 | Category:

Prior to the General Election on June 8th, the Small Business Taskforce outlined it’s priorities for UK firms in the coming years. At Turner & Turner we strive to work as a partner with our clients, so we thought we’d take this opportunity to look over the points proposed by the Small Business Taskforce and provide some insight for our customers.

What Priorities Did They Lay Out?

The Taskforce is actually made up of 14 institutions, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). As such, one of their top priorities is to ensure that the Government creates a tax system which supports businesses of all sizes, and provides valuable support.

Additionally, the Taskforce calls for the Government to create an advantageous pensions and benefits system, alongside creating a workforce that is properly equipped for enterprise. On a more direct level, they’ve called for the Government to supply procurement opportunities suitable for all levels of business.

How Could This Affect Me?

As you can expect given the name, the Taskforce focusses mainly on the needs of Small Businesses. Clive Lewis, Head of Enterprise at the ICAEW, commented “whatever the outcome on 8 June, the incoming government must provide a solid platform for small businesses to flourish and grow.”

This means you can be sure that the Taskforce, and the 14 organisations it is comprised of, are on the side of small businesses in the UK. When you require business support, for example in the area of tax and accountancy services, you can be sure of good service when you use a provider affiliated with one of these organisations.

Here at Turner & Turner we’re affiliated with the ICAEW, and provide tax and accountancy services to a range of small businesses.
